A Healing Captive
By Beth Moore
O, God, Who freed the captive
Do not liberate this carnal slave for freedoms's sake
For I will surely wing my flight to another thorny land.
Break, instead, each evil evil bond
and rub my swollen wrists,
Then take me prosoner to your will
Enslaved in your safekeeping.
O, GOd, who ushers light into the darkness,
Do not release me to the light
To only see myself.
Cast the light of my liberation upon Your face
and be Thou my vision.
Do not hand me over
to the quest of greater knowledge.
Make your word a lamp unto my feet
and a light unto my path
And lead me to your dwelling.
O, God, Who lifts the grieving hand,
Blow away the ashes
But let your gentle hand upong my brow
Be my only crown of beauty
Comfort me so deely,
My healer,
That I seek no other comfort.
O, GOd, Who loves the human soul
Too much to let it go,
So thoroughly impose Yourself
Into the heaps and depths of my life
That nothing remains undisturbed.
Plow this life, Lord,
Until everything You overturn
Becomes a fertile soil
Then plant me, O God
In the vast plain of your love.
Grow me, strengthen me,
And do not lift Your pressing hand
Until it can boastfully unveil
A display of your splendor.

Stuffed Peppers
So tonight I made stuffed peppers for dinner. I have made them before and I will admit that we bribed the kids to eat them. Hunny told the kids that if they ate them he would get them ice cream for dessert. They of course choked them down, and then happily ate their ice cream.
After eating dinner, they both agreed that it wasn't really that bad. That it kinda tasted...ok.
It has been a couple months since I have forced the kids to eat these.
So I made them again tonight.
You could right off tell that Dada wasn't thrilled.
Brother said that they actually looked....good.
Dada took a couple bites and that was about it. We again tried to bribe them with ice cream. (We said that we would go to a little ice cream shop that has opened up for the season. We haven't been there in a year or so.....she thought we were trying to pull a fast one on them.....she thought we were going to take them to a cheese store.)
Anyway.....
She asked to be excused.....and we told her that when she was hungry her plate would be waiting for her. That she wasn't going to get something different later for a snack.
She said ok....she wasn't hungry anyway.
A little while later, she handed me this note.

Dear Mom,
I hate what we are having for dinner. It is so discusting. (her spelling)
I think that that will be the last time that I serve stuffed peppers. Although I love them, I think that this is a meal that my family is just not fond of........what do you think??

Lesson's from the kitchen
Lesson # 87 ~ This is what happens to a roaster pan when you forgot to put water in it. (Long story....but we use the roaster as a warmer. It warms up our veggies everyday. You put water in the roaster pan and then set a 3 compartment pan inside the roaster pan and voila.....warm veggies.....at the right temp.) But you need to put the water in the pan!! :) Otherwise it will burn and smell REALLY BAD!!

Lesson # 88 ~ Converse and mopping floors don't mix. You will slip and slide all over the place!

Lesson # 89~ When mopping said floor it is always good to start out with a clean mop head. If none can be found at your place of employment, save your money and buy your own. Otherwise, you just might NEVER find a clean mop head. JUST SAYIN.
Lesson #90 ~ See the laundry in the picture below?? Well.....if you don't have time to fold it, take it to the 6th grade boys.....who will LITERALLY beg you to fold it and WHINE if you don't let them.
Ask Mrs. Neubert.....this really happens.

Lesson #91 ~ NeVeR and I mean NeVeR take for granted those who go above and beyond for you. Mrs. C had been a HUGE blessing to me this year and has become a very dear friend to me.
Lesson #92 ~ Be thankful when you are given sharp knives and TREASURE them. Hide them even, b/c you know that just at the moment when someone thinks you aren't looking they will try and grab your best knife and try to use it to cut a heavy cardboard tube. TRUE STORY!!

Lesson #93 ~ See this huge blue cutting board?? I LOVE IT!!! I have a red one just like it, and use them every single day. I now want one for home. I just love how BIG they are!!
Lesson #94~ Have I mentioned how much these kids love these danishes?????

Lesson #94~ A stand mixer will save your sanity.

Lesson # 95~ I was given this cheese dispenser as a gift and what a life saver this has been! It keeps the cheese at just the right temp. so you can serve it for 4 whole lunch periods! It also has cut down on the amount of cheese we use by half! So it's also very economical.

Lesson #96~ It is best to not get upset when someone knocks over your grease trap full of greasy water. Especially when said spillage WAS just an accident. And it's best to hold your tongue when they SHOULD have stayed and help clean up their mess and they walked away. Just think.....WWJD?? He would clean it up with a servant's heart.
Speaking of a servant's heart....that leads me to
Lesson #97~ having a servants heart.....in my opinion.....does NOT mean allowing yourself to be walked all over. It does not mean allowing everyone to just keep dumping on you for you to do everything for them that God gave them the ability to do.
Well....maybe it does, but I am still struggling with this one.
But isn't the point in having a servant's heart all about your attitude?
Like I said....I'm still working on that 1.
On a side note.........I do think though, that God put me in this position to teach me to have a more Christ-like heart and attitude. I have learned many spiritual lessons and know what I strive to "perfect" in my daily walk with him through this job. Although I fail this on a daily basis.
Weird.....but true.
Lesson #97~ When someone comes into the kitchen....clearly in a bad mood, know that it's probably not you and don't take it personally. Try to help them the best that you can and then pray that their day changes.
Lesson #98 ~ Never take for granted your husband when you call him and say......I LOVE YOU......and he automatically says....what do you need from Wal-Mart now? Make sure to tell him that he is the greatest husband ever and that you couldn't live without him. Not just tell him, but make sure he believes it.
Lesson #99~ Enjoy all the little moments with your kids when they unexpectedly come in the kitchen. And especially enjoy all the little notes they hide in your desk. They really are precious!
Lesson # 100~ Know that you cannot do this job in your own strength. You at least can't do it well.

Happy Mother's Day
What a good Mother's Day I had!
Hunny and the kids went and got me the cd that I have been looking everywhere for. I was so excited when Brother told me that they got it for me. ;)

Once again at school the kids at school painted a picture for their mothers.
This is 1 of my favorite things to get!!
This 1 is Dada's.

And this 1 is Brother's.
I'm going to put them in frames and hang them up.

We spent the afternoon at my Mom's house. And we had a lovely time.
Joanna decided to save this poor little plant from my Mother and take it home and nurture it back to health.
We were joking around that all us girls would hijack a plant and see how long it took Mom to figure out they were taken!
We decided against it.
She's getting fragile in her old age!! WINK WINK.

The kids had a fun time playing. They climbed the tree for the longest time. I wonder when Ethan will get the courage to climb the tree. He is usually just watching from the ground as Brother climbs higher and higher!

It was a pleasant surprise to see Grandma E. She looked wonderful!
I cherish each moment I get to see her.
She gave me a huge hug and said, you are my jewel, and I LOVE you so much!

We were sitting around the table talking about how old Joanna was getting and how JOANNA's eyes were and how she thought she MIGHT need byfocals. She made a comment about how she wasn't old and she didn't need them.
Well, Mom had been reading a card.....adjusting it so she could read it.
We just laughed and laughed.

Another funny moment....which I randomly caught in a picture was when Janelle offered Eli a brownie. Eli of course wanted one. But after 1 tiny bite, he spit it out saying.....I don't wike.
Well, it was funny b/c they were Janelle's gluton free brownies and she had earlier been trying to convince us that they really weren't that bad and that they were actually kinda good.
Out of the mouth of babes I say!! ;)

I think the funniest thing that happened was when Joy was bending down sweeping up a pile of dirt the kids had tracked in, and Grandma E walked in the kitchen looking for Joy....who was "standing" right in front of her. Grandma said....where's Joy?? We looked kinda puzzled and then Joy stood all the way up and Grandma said....."Oh, I haven't seen you from that angle before."
We all laughed and laughed!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After we came home and ate a little dinner, we headed over to G & D's house to give her her Mother's Day present.
She had had to work yesterday, and she had just gotten home.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I could just kick myself, cuz of all things.......I forgot to take a Mother's Day picture with my kids. :(

Mother/Daughter Banquet....part 2
This is only about a week overdue, but I finally had a minute to get it up. :0
A couple Saturday's ago, we had a Mother/Daughter Banquet at my Mom's church. Dada and I were a little late b/c of play practice, but made it just in time to get a little bite to eat and to see the program.

I don't have any pictures of the program b/c I forgot my camera sitting on the piano. :(

But Dada and Elisa sang a cute little song and Janelle was the speaker at the program. They all did a wonderful job!

We all missed Joy, who was on her SENIOR trip, (I can't believe she will be graduating!) and Melanie, who is of course in Hawaii.

My Dad and some other men of the church were a great help at the Banquet serving and the like. It's nice that the women of the church didn't have to do any work. The men did it all!!! It made for a relaxing banquet.....for the woman at least!! ;) And by the time the program was over.....the men had everything cleaned up downstairs!!!

Prayer for a friend.
My dear friend Lori was diagnosed with Breast cancer on Wednesday.

I know I speak for Jason and Lori and they COVET YOUR PRAYERS.

Lori is so well loved by all. She is such a strong person and I pray for added strength and peace for her.

This picture is just a sampling of how much the kids at school love her. As soon as they found out, they made these prayer bracelets. They wrote a prayer or some words of encouragement on the bracelets.
NeVeR GiVe UP.
KeEp FiGhTing.
We LoVe YoU.
By lunch time these bracelets were scattered all through out the school. It seemed like tons of people were wearing them.
There were many tears shed yesterday at school.

Isaiah 43: 18-19
Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.

Things I Love......
FaMiLy Time...........

Tonight we took the kids to a local park for a hike in the woods. It was such a beautiful day and I couldn't bear to be cooped up inside another minute longer!!
I have SuMmEr FeVeR BAD!!!
I was looking forward to it all afternoon.

I can't believe that my baby is almost 9 yrs old. Where has the time gone? It seems like she should only be 4. I keep telling everyone that I am ignoring that fact that she is getting older. If I ignore it, then it won't happen......RiGhT?????
She keeps asking for a baby sister. She even asked us on the way home from church if we could just stop at the orphanage to pick 1 up.
I told her we would have to babysit Sydney and Miley. ;)

If there is water, my kids will find it and wade through it!!
This was the creek that was above a bridge. They thought the "sand trap" they were standing on was cool.

The drama of the hike was that Dada was goofing around and she was pulling on a tree branch and of course the branch had thorns on it and it sliced her finger up good. She whined and complained for a good 10 min. It looked like it did sting though. :(

We took the dogs with us. Bella has decided that she LiKeS water!! We walked out onto the dock, and Hunny let her go. I said she's going to jump in, and he said and I quote "no, she won't." She jumped. She had such a blast!! She is sound asleep now, and that makes me happy!! ;)

When we got home, we had homework to do. It was nice to be able to sit on the patio listening to the kids do their reading.
It's now almost 9, and I know that I will be tired tomorrow. But it will be well worth it knowing that we were able to fit in some good, quality F. A. M. I. L. Y. TiMe.
