Quilts

Last week Grandma and Grandpa S came home from vacation at Great Grandma B's house with the most amazing present for the kids.

Grandma B enjoys making quilts. She made Hunny and I a quilt for our bed for our wedding present and I still love it and think of her every time I put it on our bed.

I didn't realize it at the time how special of a present it was.

But it is something that I honestly treasure.

Great Grandma B has been working on a quilt for the kids. It was a labor of love and they are something that the kids have enjoyed getting. They may not get the "coolness" of this gift but I do think that they appreciate it.

Especially Dada.

We sent her to bed last night with her new quilt already on her bed ready to keep her warm. And after I thought for sure she was asleep I heard her bounce out of her room asking for a stamp.

She had written Grandma Great a letter thanking her for the quilt.

I loved the fact that I didn't need to prompt her. She thought of the thank you letter by herself and wanted to write it.

My favorite part is " The blue is such a beautiful colour of blue." I thought that was precious.

I hope that Grandma Great enjoys the letter as much as Dada had writing it!

On a side note~

Can you tell who's going to lose another tooth? It's literally hanging by a root. It gives me the heeby jeeby's just looking at it, which I don't do if I can avoid it. ;)

Hunny is trying to convince Brother to just let him yank it out, but Brother isn't quite convinced.

2010 Mother/Daughter Banquet....Part 1.

Saturday was our annual Mother/Daughter Banquet at church.

I particularly wanted to get a picture of my friends. ( Minus Lorrie, Kate, Josie and Nora who I didn't even think to ask if they wanted to come!! :( Silly me!!!)

It's not the best picture, but I can't expect perfect when it comes to this many kids. Especially my own.....anybody notice DADA?????? She must get that from her father's side of the family.

And I won't even mention why Heather is protecting her side.

Putting my feelings aside, it was a lovely day.

I still haven't mastered the whole take your own picture deal. I always cut someone off!!

My Mom's Mother/Daughter banquet is this coming Saturday. Yippee!!!!

A view from around my house.

I thought I would take some pictures of the beautiful flowers around our house.

They brightened my day as I was walking around.

My FaVoRiTe!!!!

I have no idea what these little things are called, but they smell great and are so cute right now.
Does anyone know what they are called??
I am excited to see this plant doing well. It is some type of Lilly. The plant was given to me last year by a student in the k4 class. They bloomed forever and were SOOO pretty.
I wondered and waited all year to see if they would come back this year. I can't wait till they bloom!!

I hope you are all having a GrEaT spring. We are sure having a LoVelY one!!
Isaiah 51:15~
For I am the LORD your God, who churns up the sea so that its waves roar the LORD Almighty is his name.

The Lord is the 1 who makes or allows the storms to roll through our life, He is also the same God who prepares a way for you to get through the storm.

Isaiah 51:10~
Was it not you who dried up the sea, the waters of the great deep, who made a road in the depths of the sea so that the redeemed might cross over?

I am praying specifically for our road to be made. I know it WILL be made, I just don't know how or when. I pray that it will be soon.

Happy Easter

I hope everyone had a lovely Easter Sunday.

We had a rather unusual Easter. I guess not really unusual, maybe just not what I expected or wanted.

Since Dada was sick, I knew that she wouldn't be going to church with us, which of course means that Daddy stayed home with her. And since I was cooking breakfast at church and was planning on being at church before 6, I didn't really want to wake Brother up at 5 to get him ready for church.

So we made a quick call to G & G S, and they readily accepted my request to have Brother spend the night at their house and go to church with them.

So that's what we did.

I was sad to not see my family in there new Easter outfits. I wasn't even there to see Dada find her Easter basket ( which in our house, it's a tradition to hide the Easter baskets.)

No Easter pictures. :(

It definitely wasn't the same to not have my family in church with me. I was a little lonely sitting by myself, not being able to cuddle up with Hunny.

It was just not the same.

Thankfully, by the time I got home, Dada was feeling better, and we were all able to go to G & G S's, house for lunch.

For Easter, instead of getting the kids a bunch of candy, they don't need, or a bunch of useless crap that they will forget about in an hour, we got them a tent. I just thought it would be nice to have around.

Well the kids were ecstatic about it. Daddy had to almost immediately put it up and the just HAD to sleep in it last night.

Since it was raining out, Hunny set it right up in the living room.

Which they thought was pretty cool.

(Here you can see Brother's missing tooth)

This is a totally staged picture. They wanted me to take a picture of them "sleeping," which was much easier said then done.

I think it was 10:30 and I was still hearing them messing around.

And yes, Daddy was right in the middle of it. He grabbed his pillow and cuddled up right next to them.

It was a little comical to hear him try and settle the kids down.

I wasn't feeling well last night ( think I was just worn out from getting up so early that day! ) so I slept wonderfully in my nice, big, cozy bed!! That is until Hunny crawled in sometime in the night!! ;)

Breakfast did go well at church. I really enjoy cooking. I was nervous to try and cook so much food on just 3 electric griddles and 2 ovens. But it really worked out well. Beth, Anne and Shelby really helped me out during the morning as well. I am grateful for their help.

An update

I know I have been quiet lately. I think I have just felt very uninspired. Between being exhausted from work, and the nicer weather outside, I just haven't had alot of time to blog.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hunny has been keeping busy. He has spent the whole week getting the yard in ship shape after the winter.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Brother lost another tooth. I looks so cute with it gone. I will try and get a picture taken of him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dada is sick today. She woke up in the night puking. Thankfully her sugars have been "decent" today. 270 has been the highest. But of course she doesn't want to eat anything. She knows she will puke it up. Poor thing! And on Easter weekend to boot!
Maybe she will just feel great in the morning!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am cooking a huge SonRise breakfast at church tomorrow! I am looking forward to it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dada gave me this letter the other day. I thought it was sweet. :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
These beautiful flowers arrived at the door last Saturday, from my dear friend who was just thinking about me and wanted to brighten my day!! Thank you so much! They worked!! I have enjoyed them all week!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A while ago this dear lady came to me at school and told me that the Senior Saints wanted to give me a kitchen shower. What a blessing that was! She made me give her a list of things the kitchen needed and then the group went shopping. And shopping they did!! The school kitchen now has some amazing new items that will be most helpful in cooking lunches. They even banded together to buy a BEAUTIFUL Kitchen Aid stand mixer. I have been carting mine to and from home b/c I use it ALL the time. So they bought the school one! Have I mentioned how beautiful it is??? They ALSO got me an electric steam table/warmer. It works like magic!! I was just so excited.
The kids at school also all donated $1 and gave me a gift of money to use for more things that I needed. Doug and I went downtown to the local kitchen supply store and I was able to spend my money. I had so much fun! I was able to get some very useful things and can't wait to be able to use them!
