God's protection

So last Friday night, my Hubby and I went over to our dear friends house for a great night of fondue and fun. We had my sister and her friend come over to watch our kids and our friends kids. (there were 9 kids here total !) We got home, the house was still standing, the kids were alive, and the toys were put away. I was happy.

Well Sat night, it was incredibly cold, I think the temp itself was in the negatives. The wind chill was -30 or something like that. We went to bed, thankful for our warm house.

About 1 o'clock, I woke from a dead sleep, not knowing what I heard, but knew I heard something and was sure that someone was breaking in our house, and stealing my kids. (Tancy, how do you like that run on sentance??) I woke up hubby, and told him to go check on the kids, he did, and I could hear him mumbling sweet nothings about his darling wife all the way to the kids room. He of course came back with I was hearing nothing and an "order" to go back to sleep. I of course laid there wondering what it was I had heard. And then I heard it again, and so did he! I wasn't crazy! It was a pop, something I had never heard before, we had no idea what it was! But I didn't hear it again, and so I slowly drifted off to sleep.

Until about an hour later, I hear this little pop again. But hubby doesn't seem worried, so I go back to sleep.

About 5, I woke up to hubby getting up and walking around the house. We continue to hear this pop but we have no idea what is was. Hubby checked all the doors, the windows, the basement. Nothing, we go back to bed, wondering what it was.

We went to church wondering what the noise could of been. Hubby, decided that he thought maybe it was the bricks on our house cracking our something. We chalked it up to that.

Well, last night, hubby went to turn on the oven to make a pizza, and he noticed that the oven was on. It was set to 400. And we realized that the oven had been on since Friday night. And that the popping noise had to have been the oven Sat night.

So the point of this long drawnout story, is that I am so thankful for God's protection. We could have had a fire that night. I am humbled at his protection.

I am sorry for the disappereance of me lately!! Honestly I have not been in the mood to blog. When I do actually have a moment to myself, the last thing I want to do is blog. Usually I just want to sit and not do anything, not think, not talk, just zone out.

Christmas was good. New years was good. ( I know that tells you a whole lot!! ) Hunny got in an accident and totalled the car the day after Christmas. So that has been kinda stressful. We are still going with just 1 car, so I have to find a way to and from school. So far things have worked out. Pray that we can eventually get our car payed off and get a new vehicle.

That's about it for now, I will try and do better with my blogging, hope everyone is doing well.

Jeremy

I am in love w/ my husband. For no other reason then being in love w/ him.

A blessing

I took this from my other blog that I stopped writing on.

My heart was so uplifted tonight. Here is the story........We had ladies meeting today and I went and enjoyed my time. Before I left, I had told my husband that I was in the mood to just have fun tonight. I wanted to go out, and just have a good time. So then I went to ladies meeting, and on the way home, hubby called and said that my little sister had called and ASKED if she could babysit, and we didn't have to pay her, she just wanted out of the house. So we had a babysitter and we had a gift card to APPLEBEES ~ thank you Beth!! And so off to dinner we went. We have 2 Applebees in out town and we were going to go to the closest one, and then go grocery shopping right next door. Well, we drove to the nearest one, and they were PACKED!! I mean people standing outside. So we decided to go to the one farther away to see if they were slower. And the whole time over, I was thinking this is ridiculous, we should just stay there at the closer one, and just wait, cuz everywhere is going to be busy at 6:00 on Sat. night. Well, we kept driving and we got there, and it was only a 15 min wait, and as we waited my sister called, and I talked to her, and all of a sudden, the crowd sort of parted and there waiting for a table was a couple who has just started attending our church, so we went over and talked to them, and we ended up eating w/ them. We had such a great time! I know of this girl from when we were in high school, and we would play opposite each other in volleyball, but not much else. But it was so nice to just sit and talk to a new couple in our church. They seem really excited about coming, and they plan on coming tomorrow morning. They have been there the past 2 Sundays. I hope that we made them feel more at ease and not so nervous about coming to a new church. After we left, I was just amazed at how the Lord directed our whole evening. By literally throwing a babysitter at us, and kicking us out of our house, to leading us to the restaraunt we were to be at. And to have such a blessing on top of it all. God is good! By the way.....Beth, God used you in this evening. B/c of your generosity, we were able to go. I truly hope that the Lord blesses you for it. I know it has filled my heart!

Thanksgiving

Sorry these Thanksgiving pictures are so late. I didn't like any of my pictures turned out from Thanksgiving.

One of the things I am thankful for is an attached garage! With all the nasty weather we have been having, and attached garage is a thing of beauty!

Obedience

I have been feeling that lately at church, I am at church, but not really there. I find my mind wandering about what we will do for dinner, or what the week holds ahead for us. Sometimes at church, I find an excuse to sit in he nursery. I have not felt like I have been fed lately. I am sure that the majority of this is my fault, since I am not putting trying to listen. But today was different. Today, our pastor talked about obedience. It was 1 of the best sermons I have heard him speak in a very long time. Maybe it was just because I was really listening, I don't know, but it was very good.

He was in 1 kings, and talking about the man of God who was told by God to go and tell the King something. And he wasn't to stay in the city and eat or anything. And he didn't stay, he was invited to go the the King's house, and was going to be offered a reward, but he obeyed God, and he went a different way home. But he got tired, and he rested under the oak, and another prophet out of the will of God came and invited him back to his house for dinner. And the man of God said, no, I won't go, but the prophet said that God told him to tell the man to come to his house. And the man turned around and went back and ate at the prophets house. And in the end, the man died, b/c he didn't obey God. He knew what he was supposed to do, and he didn't do it.

This sermon really spoke to me. My husband and I had a choice to make today. We were invited to go to a Casting Crowns concert tonight. I was at 1st really excited about this. I love the Casting Crowns. But it was on a Sunday night. We at 1st said we would go. But something kept nagging at me. I couldn't shake the thought that maybe we weren't doing the right thing by going tonight. And then I sat down for church, and the pastor whips out this sermon on obedience. I kept fighting with myself b/c I wanted so bad to go to this concert but I felt the Lord telling us to stay home and go to church instead. Well the pastor ended with these 3 verses in Dueteronomy....................

11:26 Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse;
11:27 A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day:
11:28 And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.

I really felt like I had to choose to obey what he was telling me or knowingly disobey him. I chose to obey.

As promised

Brother's class

Brother in his classroom before the program

Brother really did a great job during the program. He didn't do the motions to the song. But he sang really well, so I am happy with that.
