Weeding flower beds and grilling out

We had a very busy day today. I of course slept in, only till about 8:30 though. I putzed(sp??) around this morning for a while, and then I got to work. I picked up the house(.....I don't think that job is ever done) I vacuumed and did the dishes, did some laundry, and then made some lunch. While I did that Hunny cleaned out the garage, mowed the grass and weed eated.

After lunch, I went outside to work in my flower beds. I weeded them all! And let me tell you that was a chore. I didn't get a chance to do them in the fall, so I had some work cut out for me. :)

Check out this hosta!!

I had a huge helper today. Brother decided that he wanted to be in on the action. He did an awesome job. It was really nice to spend some quality time with him. He is an amazing kid!

Our job was to get all the greenish white plants out of the flower bed. They were overtaking the bed!

Here is what the bed should look like. I still need to get some mulch. And I think I want to plant some geraniums or some impatients in the front where the greenish white plants where.

After we got the yard work done. We had some family friends over for a cookout and bonfire.

Brad and Hunny grilling the hamburgers and hot dogs.

Here is their whole family

And of course the kids......

Visiting with friends and planting gardens

We had a good day today. I was really bored this morning, so I called my friend Beth to see if she wanted to come over. She needed an excuse to get out of the house, and so she came over.

We had a good visit. She has 4 kids of her own, and then she was watching her niece and nephew. And I was watching my niece, so between us we had 9 kids running around our house. They had a great time playing monster, and dolls, and whatever else they played.

After that, it finally quit raining! So I was able to go work out in the garden. We had roto tilled last weekend, so I just had to rake it and then I was ready to start planting. I got my beans and tomatoes planted. I still have to get my zucchini and my cucumbers.

It was so nice to play in the dirt today. We had an huge thunderstorm last night with lots of rain. So the ground was nice and soft. Perfect to weed in. The kids of course had to help me, so we all got filthy!

I also took a picture of the lilac bushes outside of my door. I can not begin to describe how great they smell. And the picture doesn't begin to do them justice.

We also planted a Japanese maple the other day. It is just a sapling but I am excited to see it grow.

What have I been up to??

I am thoroughly enjoying my time off of work. I have finally got caught up on my housework. We really worked hard yesterday at catching up on different things that have been neglected. Hunny scrubbed out the refrigerator! There was beginning to be a smell everytime you opened the door. It was pathetic. He took out all the shelves and drawers and scrubbed the entire thing! Here is the finished product.

Dada and Brother helped me clean the basement. It wasn't to bad this time. They really haven't had time to go down there and make a mess. But we organized it and dusted and vacuumed it.

Brother also decided to organize their toy closet in the basement! He did it without asking and I was pretty impressed with his job.

I also get caught up on my laundry......for today anyway! :) I folded 4 baskets of white clothes and towels. No wonder why I couldn't find any of our white clothes. They were all hidden in 3 different baskets!

I have been allowing myself to sleep in this week. It has been amazing. Although in about a week, I want to get up about 7 and get my day started. That's the plan anyway.

As you can tell by the pictures, my brother got married last Saturday. It was an amazing day. Jonathan and Melanie looked incredible. My dad did the ceremony and he really did a fantastic job. Although I am happy they got married. I am very sad because that means that they are moving to Hawaii. They have already left for Washington. All my other sisters live within 30 min of each other. It makes me sad that they are so far away.

Hunny is still working. He had a couple days off for Memorial Day. So that was a nice break. He is still driving the 2 hours each way every day. But with gas going up, he is really considering staying over night. Pray for wisdom and direction is this matter.

The wedding

The rehearsal

My brother Jonathan got married today. It was a beautiful wedding. They both looked amazing. I will post pictures of the wedding soon. Here are some from the rehearsal and some from decorating the reception hall.

I have no idea why this picture won't rotate. I have tried to fix it but it won't do what I want. SO I am sorry. You will just have to get a crick in your neck.

The gentile

So Uncle Jeff and KT were watching the kids last night while we were on a date. Jeff and KT were telling Dada how funny she is, and how much she makes them laugh. Dada, blurts out that it's b/c she's a gentile. Jeff and KT stopped and of course that blew them away. How many times do you hear that?? But Dada proceeded to tell them that she isn't jewish, so she must be a gentile. I think I laughed until I cried.
